Magma cg
Art Direction, Branding, Graphic Design
2012
Disagreement with reality.
Immanence.
Transfiguration.
Magma absorbs form, enveloped her in a black cocoon (black body), gathers light within itself.
Light is energy. White light breaks through the dark membrane appearing as iridescent spots, just as the rays of light piercing through heavy clouds, as a rainbow after storm.

rcooper joinery - logo inspiration

Im starting a new brief today, re-brand of my dads joinery company, RCooper Joinery/Space plan-it.
Been trying to come up with concepts for logos but been stuck coming up with any great ideas.
Here is some visual reference to help spark some ideas.

Projac is a precision engineering company, that creates and develops measuring systems for the automotive industry.
This is the type of logo design that i need to start looking into, fit for purpose, works for the company and communicates the message that they wish to show. It also fits is nicely with each of the outcomes that it has been printed on from business cards to letter heads.

Signika - typeface

Signika Sample

Found this typeface t'other day and thought it would be perfect for the vitro-regeneration brief with Matt. Signika is a 'friendly' quite quirky san serif typeface but with a classy feel to it. Would work perfectly for things such as headers and short bodies of text within the publications applied in a similar way to how it has been done in these images to give an clear, friendly read.

Vitro-regeneration - logo concepts.

Spoke to Matt's dad about the company name, we gave him some of our suggestions along with some of his own and we decided to settle on Prolifera Tech. The name itself isn't the 'prettiest' company name to work with however for the type of company it is and what they wish to communicate through the branding it works perfectly. Needs to be a slightly commercial logo design however Matts dad says he is open to a more contemporary twist on it to help portray his modern techniques and experimentations.

Here are some logos for similar companies that i feel work really well.

Ritator - Swedish design and advertising agency

''‘Under’ is a book commissioned by artist Peter Johansson. In 1989 Johansson cast twenty concrete sculptures. Each sculpture has a different material combined with the concrete, such as metal, sausage, soap, plaster or cheese.''

Really clever concept for a book cover by Ritator, the book is very representative of its subject matter

petri - dish: artwork

One of the concepts that we came up with was to use petri-dishes to create all the imagery to be used within the design work. Using bacteria/what-ever-we-can to create really interesting colours, shapes and patterns that we can photograph at really high quality and utilize the images for the design work.

One problem we face is neither of me and Matt has a brilliant understanding of biology therefore lots of experimentation with petri-dishes and different materials will need to be carried out to find out how we can produce these colourful interesting patterns.

These designs have been created by Adam Barak, he has created the basic skeleton of the hebrew letters using bacteria from his mouth on petri-dishes. Really interesting concept however the over all outcome isnt too interesting, the dishes are not really too great to look at whereas he had potential to produce some really nice imagery using these dishes.
