What is Design for Print? substrates.

Substrates


A substrate is any stock or material that receives a printed image, which could practically be anything, from paper to printing on an elephant. To get the most out of you're design it is important choose the best substrate for the job, the most suitable material which will help make your work stand out and be unique to the best of its abilities whilst still being reasonable and sticking within a budget. The variety of substrates to print upon is now greater than ever before, giving wider creative possibilities for a design. 


Paper types.
Paper types is any stock which can be printed using the conventional printing processes, these are some examples of different paper types which could be used;


Carbon paper - Used For : Mostly used where more than one copy is required simultaneously



 Art board - used for: cover stock.












  greaseproof paper




greaseproof paper - used for: Used for food packagings and other special wrapping applications. however can look nice id used for stock for a design.


  
Chromo paper - used for: Mainly used for self adhesive stickers, calendars , posters, labels and for applications where only one side has to be printed

newsprint - used for: genrally used for newspaper and comics.
